What We Use and How We Test

Tenpenny Candle Co. is built around small-batch products made with care, tested honestly, and designed to bring a little everyday magic into your home.

Natural Waxes

Tenpenny candles are made with a natural coconut soy wax blend, chosen for its smooth appearance, reliable burn, and strong scent experience.

Our wax melts are made with soy wax and designed to be used in approved wax warmers.

Fragrance Oils Selected with Care

Tenpenny Candle Co. uses phthalate-free fragrance oils selected according to Tenpenny’s internal clean fragrance standard.

We review supplier-provided SDS and IFRA documentation when available and screen fragrance oils for major concern categories, including carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins, organ toxins, and acute toxicity concerns based on their intended use in candles and wax melts.

Fragrance oils are used within recommended usage guidelines for their product type. If a fragrance oil does not meet our standards, we do not use it.

Tested Before Joining the Shop

Every candle design goes through testing before it becomes a Tenpenny product.

That includes reviewing wick performance, melt pool behavior, scent throw, burn quality, and overall safety during normal candle use. If a candle does not meet our standards, it is adjusted and tested again.

Small Batches, Thoughtful Details

Tenpenny Candle Co. products are hand-poured in small batches in Texas.

Small-batch production allows us to keep a close eye on each pour, each label, and each finished product before it reaches a customer.

Packaging with Care

Tenpenny Candle Co. uses protective shipping packaging designed to reduce excess fill and help products arrive safely.

When additional packing fill is needed, we use biodegradable packing peanuts. Our goal is to balance product protection, packing efficiency, and less unnecessary waste.

A Note on Candle Safety

Candles should always be used with care. Please follow the safety instructions included with each product, burn candles within sight, keep them away from drafts and flammable materials, and discontinue use when only a small amount of wax remains.
