Where Tenpenny Began

Tenpenny Candle Co. creates small-batch scented candles, hand-poured for quiet moments, cozy rituals, and a little everyday magic.

I’m Dana, the maker behind Tenpenny Candle Co. Long before this company existed, Tenpenny began as part of a story: Nyx Tenpenny, a Dungeons & Dragons character I created, was an artificer — someone who made magical artifacts with care, purpose, and a little spark.

That idea stayed with me.

Tenpenny Candle Co. grew out of a difficult season, when making something warm, steady, and useful felt like a way to carry a little light forward. Candles may be ordinary objects, but scent and flame have their own kind of magic. A fragrance can bring back a memory, soften a room, mark a ritual, or make an ordinary evening feel a little more cared for.

Made with Care

Every Tenpenny scent is created around a feeling first: warmth, comfort, calm, grounding, centering, or freshness. Each candle includes a simple effect profile as a small nod to its tabletop roots — not a promise or a remedy, but a way to help you choose the kind of atmosphere you want to invite into your space.

Care matters here. Tenpenny candles are hand-poured in small batches using natural waxes, including a coconut soy blend for candles and soy wax for wax melts. Fragrance oils are selected with care, and each candle design is tested for safety and scent experience before joining the shop.

Small Lights Matter

Tenpenny is also built with giving in mind. Five percent of sales supports meaningful causes, because the heart of this company has always been about carrying a little good forward.
